My Trip to Shanghai

So I went to Shanghai for an interview in which I did not get the position but the trip was not a waste. Shanghai is such a modern city. I did not do much sightseeing. that's for the vacation to Shanghai. Have fun!

Help Me! I'm on a hard sleeper train with Chinese men so will not stop smoking!

Yes, that's right the top bunk is that close to the ceiling.

It is quite cramped up there.

No standing room only laying room.

My fellow bunk mates. There are no doors on the sleeping compartments. That's why I asked for the top.

The peeps down below.

The pic says enough.

The hotel I said at was quite cheap and Chinese. It was in an awesome location and very clean. Only one complaint: I could smell the cigarette smoke from the room next door. It wasn't strong but you know me; I HATE SMOKING!

Yes this is the bathroom. Very small. Two average and above people could not romantically shower together and you wouldn't want to.

It has telephone booth doors.

This is my shower head.

You know me. I can sniff out America anywhere. It was a sight for sore eyes. We don't have it in Beijing.

One of the creative ways Shanghai Metro tell you the subway station.

This was my stop and the hotel was two blocks away.

Tonights ChiFan

11/05/2010
So Lily made hotpot for dinner and anything she makes is really good. I've never had it homemade and it was just as easy as eating it in the restaurant and a fraction of the price.

Look Ma! Chopsticks!

It's usually just us 3 for dinner

We put all the ingredients in the pot and cook!

Lily takes out her shrimp.

Dipping sauces

Shrimp and fishballs

My homeboy Edward!

Lily made HotPot for dinner

Recently....

Melissa and I went to this restaurant called All Day. As you can see here dessert was overwhelming and delicious!

So I went to BK cause it just opened, and it is not as popular as the Golden Arches up in China. So i had to give it my stamp of approval. I give it five finger licks! Most of the fast food places here in China have a hand washing area so you don't have to go in the restroom. Why is great.

I feel that it is my BK. Its so damn far though. So going there is a special treat. And they had chocolate, vanilla, and twist ice cream cones, and brownies. The Arches only have vanilla cones, taro and pineapple pies (that are fried).

This day I wanted to go to the National Museum and I think it was closed cause the one entrance i saw was closed. So I went to Tian'An Men square instead (its right across the street)

I took a picture with these monks 'cause they never met a foreigner (laowi) and i never met a monk. It was an even exchange.

The Latest but not the greatest!

Hey Guys!
These are pictures of my neighborhood.

Dangerous taxi man! They are illegal taxis.

This is the little shopping plaza in front of my community.

This is the trash collector. Yes! I said trash collector. I have not seen a garbage truck since I've been here.

Yes! I'm a foodie. I had nuggets and it was damn good. And look sweet and sour sauce. Taste just like home.

I'm Lovin it!

This is the name of my community Sunny Up Town.

This is the street I live on. JingTongYuan.

This is my apartment bldg. That's my window on the 2nd floor.

A walk around Sanlitun!

Oct 25, 2010

Today was the first time Beijing saw the Sun since last week Sunday. And I sure as hell took advantage of the beautiful, sunny day outside. Last week I stayed inside all week Sun-Fri. It was that bad outside and of course I am talking about pollution. Here's what I saw today (jintian).

It was actually pretty good.
A very interesting twist but not for me.

Dinner with the fam.

October 24, 2010

Lily was sick and didn't feel like cooking dinner so we went out. It was pretty good except for the pork fried rice. I was so disappointed. I miss my NY chinese food.

Here is the usual plastic wrapped dinnerware.

This was pretty good. Pork and string beans. This is the pork fried rice. and it is gross.

Here is Lily.

Me and my bro from another mother, Edward.

I dont know what this is called but it was damn good. I had pork of course and veges.

this is the end of our meal. Only Edward and I ate. and we tore it up.

One of my new favorites.

Better late than Never!

Hey. I've been busy! Sorry for neglecting you but I am going to make it up right now. Cindy, Baba (chinese for father), and Sunnie invited my on a little get away trip outside of Beijing. I was with Baba's co-workers, they do it every year, and since i am family, i got to tag along. We went apple pick, some other type of fruit picking, bowling, we rode bumper cars, sang karaoke, played pool, ping pong ( my first time) and stayed overnight in a really nice hotel, all on his job's dime! Lunch was terrible, dinner was amazing and i have no pics(note to self: bring camera everywhere). i at so much i thought i was going to explode. Cindy got a little tipsy of the wine and apparently likes pop and hip-hop music and can dance to them as well. well here we go...

Here I am picking some weird looking orange colored fruit that I always thought was a vegetable.

I got it.

This is what it looks like

I actually did not eat it. I was hard as hell and not ripe.

Now for the apples or (pingguo)

They actually taste very yummy. They're very tangy. Similar to PinkLady apples we have back home. (yes there is such a thing as PinkLady apples. I think its a hybrid form green and red apples.)

Cindy loves to take pictures.

Yummy, Yummy!
